The last round for Clouseau in 2010

2010 Sportpaleis, Antwerp Visit website

With ‘De Laatste Ronde’ Clouseau wave their fans goodbye for an undefined period. It is the eleventh and, for now, last set of concerts before the band takes a big break. The past eleven years Clouseau performed more than 100 times in the Sportpaleis for more than 1 600 000 people!

This year's show takes almost 3 hours and is a musical and technological demonstration. The first part of the show is rather static using a 40 meters wide by 14 meters high backwall featuring a spectacular matrix of 120 Clay Paky Alpha Beams 300 and a huge splitted videowall. But in the second part the central stage starts moving through the crowd, making a full run through the venue. The stage moves along a pre-programmed route and docks at three different stations where the band comes ‘ashore’ to greet the audience from the 300m² of catwalk. It is an incredible experience for the enthusiastic fans!
Instead of the usual encores, Clouseau decided to give the audience a full blown third half where they introduce special guest appearances by Bart Peeters, Jan Leyers and Natalia for a beautiful apotheosis full of surprises.
The audience is left behind stunned and can only hope this won’t be the bands’ last round ever…
Set and Lighting designer Luc Peumans stated “From the start of preparations it was clear for everybody in the design team that the aim for this, last, edition was to thank the audience for 11 years of “Clouseau in het Sportpaleis” by playing only and every hit Clouseau ever made and travelling out to the audience to shake every last hand in the house to.” So this made us think about a moving stage”, Peumans continues,” that could be sent out of the set into the public.
Thanks to the experience we got from “Clouseau in’t Lang” in 2005 we knew how we could make the band wireless and run of batteries if needed. Instead of just roaming about we suggested to make a few docking stations the stage could head for, and this way perform a few songs at every station.
After returning to the base station all the catwalks connected to each other creating one giant catwalk. Exactly the kind Koen Wauters, the singer of the band, likes.
The set consisted of some 400 Moving Lights, 400 generic fixtures, automated telescopes, Kinesys motors, G-lec low res LED panels, 1600 Barco Mi-strips, Studio Due CS4’s, Showtec active Sunstrip, a computerized wireless moving stage,….
Total power consumption was 3 x 1600 Amps.
