How to design the biggest Flemish musical ever

2014 Nekkerhal, Mechelen Visit website

Assignment:

Studio 100’s Frank Van Laecke, Dirk Brossé and Allard Blom wanted to create the biggest Flemish musical ever in memory of the First World War. The venue they chose was the Nekkerhal, and the production required a complete moving set, including the grandstand. They wanted Painting With Light to be part of this enormous spectacle.

Solution:

For the eight huge moving set pieces in the show, Painting With Light created all the movements in WYSIWYG and then programmed it into the show’s relevant automation controller.  The video content was produced by New Solid and programmed onto the media server by the Painting With Light team. Due to the numerous different scenes, creating complete atmospheres for the environment with lighting was crucial. The results were awesome and the production has garnered much critical acclaim, as well as being a great success.
